La Pietra School is a magical, one-of-a-kind venue on the island of Oahu. It also happens to be an all-girls private school in the heart of Waikiki. The campus of this school will make you feel as if you’ve been whisked away to the charming Italian countryside – it’s truly breathtaking.
As a Hawaii wedding photographer, I was thrilled when Brandon and Jen asked me to be a part of their day. La Pietra comes with a glowing recommendation from me as a gorgeous backdrop for your wedding!

Your Guide To Planning A Wedding At La Pietra
La Pietra School is located on the former Dillingham Estate. Even though it’s located in Waikiki, the campus is totally private, but still conveniently located for your wedding. The campus architecture mirrors an Italian villa. However, you’ll also get the best of Hawaii with palm trees swaying overhead and lush, vibrant greenery surrounding you.
La Pietra is perfect for you if you’re looking for a Hawaii wedding venue that offers you something different from a beachside celebration. It’s also a dream wedding venue if you love entertaining, and you want to offer your guests a unique experience.
The venue not only has stunning architecture but also beautiful landscaping. Here you will find vine-covered walls, and something magical that catches your eye everywhere you turn. One of my favorite features is the pristine gardens. This is a great spot for your wedding photos. The gardens have several tropical plants and flowers, along with enchanting fountains and sculptures.
Venue features
La Pietra has a capacity for up to 200 guests. However, you can also plan a beautiful, intimate celebration here. Furthermore, you can choose to have either an indoor or outdoor celebration.
Another amazing feature of the venue I must mention is that, being in Waikiki, it is very convenient for your out-of-town guests. Your guests can stay close to the venue, with many great hotel and resort options nearby. Plus, they can fly directly into Honolulu.
Also, if you book your wedding at La Pietra, you’ll have access to the campus’s Great Lawn, Fountain Courtyard, Julia Brown Courtyard, and on-site parking areas. Since La Pietra’s main focus is being a school and not a wedding venue, you’ll be able to truly customize your day to fit your wedding vision. You can choose which vendors you want to bring, what spaces on the campus you want to use, and how you’d like to customize your day, from your florals to your wedding decor.

Brandon + Jen’s Enchanting Spring Wedding at La Pietra
Brandon and Jen planned a gorgeous spring wedding at La Pietra. It was a beautiful celebration full of love, joy, and thoughtful details.
When they inquired about working with me, they told me during our conversation that they wanted to work with a photographer who could capture both the feeling of their wedding, along with the natural beauty of our Hawaii. After they told me their wedding vision, I knew we would be a great fit for each other!
Brandon and Jen met in college at the University of Hawaii. This made it natural that they would choose to get married in the state where their love story began.
While Brandon and Jen weren’t living in Hawaii during their engagement, they knew they wanted to get married here to honor the place where they grew up and share their love with friends and family.
Ceremony and reception
Their wedding was incredibly unique to them as a couple because of the thoughtful individual touches they designed and included in their day. One of these thoughtful, personalized touches was related to food. When Brandon and Jen host parties, one of their favorite ways to show love is through amazing food, which was a core feature of their wedding as well.
Also, their reception decor was supposed to resemble a warm and inviting dinner party with house plants and family-style meals, so that conversation would spark at every table. They also included wedding favors that were spice jars, and the guest book was actually a recipe book. They did this so when they cooked the recipes in the future, they would think of their guests – this was such a unique idea that I loved!
There were so many special moments from this day. I’m so grateful that I got to be a part of Brandon and Jen’s celebration!
